This weekend, my husband took the children to Santaland at Macy’s on 34th Street. We do this every single year and I was NOT going to let them miss out just because I was on bed rest. So, Bill caught an 8:30AM train and off they went to NYC.
Natalie insisted on wearing her fanciest dress. I told her that it wasn’t necessary but she wouldn’t have it any other way! The kids also brought along cookies to give to Santa which I thought was so cute.
Part of the fun is getting into the city via LIRR. They don’t take the train in often, but when they do it’s always a treat!
I grew up going to Santaland. My mother never missed a beat.I think we went for 12 years in a row and I always loved looking back on those shots! I am so happy that my children are continuing the tradition. Of course, Natalie hammed it up a bit while inside. LOL
They each had the opportunity to tell Santa what they wanted. Bill texted me their answers. We always try to get them what they ask for just to make the experience more believable. Luckily, neither asked for a pony!!
One cab ride later and the family visited the infamous tree. They watched the ice skaters for just a bit because it started to rain.
And then it was a quick walk over to Magnolia Bakery. Mommy placed a very special order for a few of these puppies. You know, one for me and one for this baby I’m baking.
All of this and everyone was on the train heading back home by 11:30. I couldn’t believe it! Bill didn’t want to chance leaving me alone too long – so he zipped right through our itinerary. The kids didn’t mind. They had a blast. In fact, they passed out on the ride home. Everyone walked in the door by noon.
What a great morning for them all!
