The Sprout Network hosted a luncheon today to celebrate it’s new animated show for preschoolers, ASTROBLAST! The venue was a NYC restaurant called The Sugar Factory. Naturally, when my almost-four-year old heard there was a party about a TV show at a place actually named The SUGAR Factory, he was psyched to attend.
Nina from “The Goodnight Show” was on hand to talk about what Sprout, the only 24 hour network for preschoolers, has coming up. (They are developing an animated show about Nina’s bilingual childhood). The main focus was Astroblast!, a new show based on a Scholastic book series of the same name by author and illustrator Bob Kolar. Themes of the show include embracing differences, modeling positive relationships and and fostering healthy habits. It takes place in a space station/smoothie shop and features an adorable cast of animal characters.
There was no shortage of yumminess at The Sugar Factory. Though my son couldn’t get enough of the ginormous ice cream sundaes and towering red velvet cake, I have a fantasy of a late night visit there sans kids when these treats can best be enjoyed with a glass of wine.
Astroblast! takes off on Saturday, July 12th at 1pm EST during the Sunny Side Up Show and again at 8pm EST during The Goodnight Show, and will air seven days a week.
