Easy Ways To Stay Motivated While Living A Healthy Lifestyle #HealthiestYouEver

We all know that making the decision to live a healthy lifestyle can be absolutely rewarding… and challenging. Listen, I’m going through it right now. I can completely empathize with your process. But once you turn that switch on, once you decide that you will start to listen to your body and love your body and HONOR your body, it’s hard to forget how important every decision you make truly is.

Do we all fail at times? Absolutely. I fall and I fall hard. My biggest weakness starts with french and ends with fries. But truly – I never beat myself up. I never decide that my fight ends with a mistake… and it’s with good reason. I have support – online and off. I need it to get through and over the hurdles. Believe me, support makes all the difference in determining your choices.

And let’s be honest. The choices that matter are the ones that no one sees. The ones you make when you are home alone and it’s late at night and there’s nothing that would taste better than an ice cream sundae but you know it’s just not part of the plan. So, what do you do? Do you dive in deep and add a little extra whipped cream? Or do you reach out for some support?

I choose the latter.

If you are in need of extra motivation and support, here’s a few ideas to keep you on the right track.

Start posting photos of your healthy meals online. I know it sounds crazy, but once I started Instagramming my dinner, that action held me accountable. I stopped making chicken nuggets for my family and instead started to bring home fresh fish and lean proteins. It was important for me to actually see what I was putting in my body –  and be able to look back on my history. Believe me, it’s key! Besides, you will have a lot of fun doing it all too.

Sign your family up for fun. Exercise and fitness doesn’t have to be boring. It can be exciting and invigorating and… colorful! All you have to do is figure out ways to stay interested. When I ran the Color Vibe a few weeks ago, it meant that much more to me because I had my family by my side. I truly want them part of the process. After all, if I am signing up for a healthier lifestyle, so should they. We all win!!!!

If there is one thing that the web has, it’s a plethora of places for people to find information and support. When I found Culturelle’s #HealthiestYouEver community, I was able to learn information about digestive health, stress relief, relaxation, and how to make healthier food choices. Everything that was included in the community truly brought me closer to the healthier lifestyle I strive for on a daily basis. I love that the #HealthiestYouEver site focuses on all aspects of health and not just ways that the Culturelle products can work within my frame.

As I was leveling up and through the process, I learned yoga poses to do while at my desk. What?! That is super amazing! Little things like this – when added to your everyday routine – really do add up.

Get outdoors more. It’s inevitable that if you do, you will move more. And listen, while you are at it – take your family along and make a few memories. I am an NYC girl. I was born in Manhattan and raised in Queens. I spent 30 years in NYC and this was really hard for me to change. Me + Nature? Horror story. Where people saw open fields, I saw ticks. I’m not kidding. But after several years of being a mom, I realized that this was an important part of my kids’ childhood. They needed to be outdoors and to run in the fields, swim in lakes and hike on trails … even though it was a very foreign concept to me. I am so happy that we do these things together now because not only does it give me the exercise I need, but it gives my children lasting memories of amazing summer afternoons.

Get a workout partner. When I found someone in town that would run with me (slowly), it made ALL THE DIFFERENCE. I have such a hard time getting up to one mile and if I am being honest with you – I am not far out from that point. But running with Tracy makes me FINISH. We set a goal. We pick a time. We put in the effort and then we huff and puff our way until the end. I’m so happy I found someone at my level – that is KEY. Look for someone local who is just starting out like you and get on a schedule. Build up your endurance together and don’t forget to have fun while you are at it.

Do you have any tips that you’d like to share with me? How do you stay motivated? Would love to hear!

Thanks for the tips! It's really hard to stay motivated on this healthy journey. I will start posting my meals online. Let's see where that takes me.

I have started working out more and joined a Muay Thai kickboxing class. I even got my friend to join me, so we have someone to be accountable to. I never really thought about taking pics of food to help with accountability. I always took the pics of food, because it looks so darn delicious, haha. Really great tips on staying motivated!
