The Family Absolutely Loved The Ratchet & Clank Movie Screening Event In NYC! #RatchetAndClankMovie #SK

Ratchet and Clank She Knows Event 1

My family just loves watching movies. We do it all the time. It’s one of our favorite “family time” activities. It’s just so much fun for us to see a movie together. Either we get all comfy and cozy under the covers in my bed with some microwave popcorn or ice cream deliciousness or super fun to go to a theater, with all that yummy giant popcorn and mind-blowing sound and images goodness. It’s something we all just really enjoy. It takes your mind off of the day-to-day and transports us to amazing new places. I think it really encourages wonder and excitement in the kids. It’s something Bill and I really enjoy seeing and experiencing. It just seems like it’s one of those things we will always remember the kids have grown up.

As you can imagine, we also love going to cover movie-related events for Lady and the Blog! We were lucky enough to be invited by She Knows Media to an advanced screening event of the upcoming CG-animated movie Ratchet and Clank. This funny and adorable movie is based on the iconic PlayStation video game. It’s a little different, but why not…it really works!

Ratchet and Clank She Knows Event 8

Two unlikely heroes struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.

The event, held a wonderfully intimate Dolby Laboratories Screening Room in a very non-descript office building in midtown NYC (right across the street from where Bill and I used to work many moons ago). The place was awesome and featured Dolby Atmos®, which really made the movie seem lifelike. the amazing sound and fantastic 3D effects really made the movie pop!!

Ratchet and Clank She Knows Event 4
Before the movie started, we were greeted with a lovely reception stocked with delicious kiddie food, like chicken fingers and sliders, and some equally delicious adult food. Charcuterie and cheeses anyone? Yes please. Honey Lavender Lemonade…I’ll have 3.

Ratchet and Clank She Knows Event 5

The kids even enjoyed some craft time with their new friends, knocking out some word searches along with some maze-solving fun. It was a great intro, but it was time for the main event, Ratchet and Clank!

In 3 words: We. Loved. It.

Ratchet and Clank She Knows Event 2

Once the movie was over (as I do with any movie or book), I asked them what they liked the most about the movie. It proved to be a bit difficult to get an answer out of them. They both said “everything” and “the whole thing” about 10 times. This wasn’t helping. I needed some specifics. I asked them again and we started to get somewhere.

The kids mentioned how they loved the characters, because they were cool (Liam), funny (Liam), adorable (Natalie), brave (Natalie) and very likable (me). Liam loved the shooting and fighting scenes, of course. Don’t worry, they are SUPER G-rated fun scenes, literally perfect for kids of any age. Natalie loved when little Ratchet fulfilled his dream of becoming a Ranger and then saved the day and the universe!

I liked the movie because it featured a timeless underdog hero story. You know it and you love it. And this was done very well. The animation was vibrant and eye catching, and the cute and kitschy humor was a welcome addition to the action-based story. The movie flowed very well and never got boring. The kids enjoyed every minute and judging by the reaction and the comments from the other kids, it seemed to be a universal hit. My friend’s 13 year-old son even said he liked it! You try pleasing a teenage boy.

Want a little taste of it for yourself? It’s ok, I know you do. You can check out the adorably hilarious trailer right here:

Well, what do you think?

My family and I really enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to any family out there that loves to spend time with each other and take new, heartfelt, and funny adventures. It’s good, safe, kid-friendly fun. The best part… you can go home and play Ratchet and Clank on the PlayStation. They liked it so much, we literally went to GameStop and got the game. I know, I know…but we had to do it. It just seemed right. Liam is playing it as I type this. It’s a hit and it’s a great way to make the movie memories last a little bit longer. We have a new duo to love!

  1. I can’t wait to see the Ratchet and Clank movie. I remember playing the games on PS2 back in the day. They were fun!

  2. My son is excited to see this movie when it comes out. I just saw the preview a few days ago and it looks like a fun movie!

  3. Though I know it had nothing to do with this, I pinned that rad meat and cheese board. The reason I like the Ratchet and Clank movie is the focus on technology.

  4. Looks like it was a great show! I love seeing families get together for some good old fashion movie going. Looking forward to seeing Ratchet and Clank in theaters!

  5. I’m so glad Ratchet and Clank got their own movie! I think I played every single game, and I loved the quirky characters in all of them.

  6. This looks like it is going to be a great movie. I will have to take my kids to see it.
