Tuck Everlasting: A Reminder To Embrace Life Until Your Last Day #TuckEverlasting

Screen Shot 2016-04-10 at 5.21.51 PM

I’m actually having a hard time writing this review. I’m already getting choked up on sentence ONE. I mean, just THINKING OF THAT FINALE has me prepping for a migraine. Tuck Everlasting, while it’s a book that many of my friends and their children have read, was not a story that I knew walking into the theatre last night. So, I didn’t know what to expect. What I saw was imagery that a mother could barely handle. (yup – I’m crying) I saw everything I wanted for my children and more. I saw hope and adventure and I saw the true meaning of life and it was all for the simple price of a Broadway ticket.

They didn’t know that I needed that message. How could they? They didn’t even know I was in the theatre. But I walked away with such a burden lifted off my soul. I was doing it right. We were all doing it right. I’m not talking about the play yet am I? Ok – let’s rewind a bit.

First of all, it was a rainy day in NYC and guess who didn’t have umbrellas?

These girls. But we managed. I mean – it’s only water, right? We found our seats and got ready for an unexpected ride. The main question of the night was raised –>

If you could live forever, would you?

Now, let me tell you this. Immediately, I thought my answer was yes. Who WOULDN’T want a chance at forever? But learning the consequences of such a decision showed me just how precious our simple lives really are.

Guess who was in the audience to see the preview on the first night? Natalie Babbitt! The original book’s author! Amazing!!! That must have been simply incredible to see her words LITERALLY COME TO LIFE.

I really don’t want to give too much away because I really hate those sort of posts, but I can promise you this:

You will cry.

You will laugh.

You will remember.

You will love.

You will cherish.

And you will never look at your life the same way again.

(I’m crying again by the way)
