Well, we did it. We made it through another summer. Honestly, the kids were really excited about it all and I was looking forward to it as well. I needed structure and balance and a routine. I love the first few weeks of summer… but after a while the whole concept gives me straight up anxiety.
I’m a TYPE A – where’s my planner – things have to happen in this particular order – kinda girl. And summer… isn’t.
So, when I saw my kids get on that bus, I think I felt all the stress lift off my shoulders. We made it. My happy place. I can find my zen again.
Even little Caleb is going to start nursery this year. He starts a little later than my older two – but this is his big YEAR. I can’t believe it!!
If you’re doing the math, you’ll figure out that the Sweeney family missed three ACTUAL days of school because of the cruise. IT is what it IS. In 10 years, we will have the Disney memories. I just have to send them in with a cold a few times to ensure that their absent marks stay low. LOL. (kidding)
We are all really ready to roll. I am also going to try to really stay on top of their homework and school work. 5th grade is a big deal for Natalie – I don’t want her to fall behind. I feel like I’ve failed her the last few years due to an over-scheduled work life.
Really excited about this new school year. Changes are in the works.
