Daily Diary: Missing The Mess
I’m here in San Francisco for a few days with Hilton Hotels (more on that in a bit) and I was face-timing my kids this morning to say goodbye before I started my day. Of course, the house was a complete disaster. Everyone was screaming at me through the phone. The kids were fighting about who got to hold it. Caleb was sort of in the middle trying to figure out why mommy’s face was on the screen. And all I saw was toys everywhere.
And I missed them all.
Full disclosure: If I was home in the middle of that chaos, I probably would have had a heart attack and made my kids clean it all up. But seeing it from the other side of the country made me smile. It was my mess in a way. And it was good to see my mess from my very neat hotel room.
The other day, Caleb was watching Disney Junior with me after the older two went to school. We picked out some Disney friends for him to play with and he spent the entire hour lining them up and then messing them up. Over and over again. The sweetest thing! Talk about being in his happy place. Right in the middle of Mickey and Donald. That boy has a thing for mouse ears. 🙂
Anyway, I’m sure these toys are hanging off the ceiling fan and stuffed in my oven at this point. Rules go out the window when mommy leaves town. That’s ok. Everyone needs a break every once in a while, right?
