Heroes in a half shell… Turtle Power. Are you ready for my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie review? Woo hoo! Yesterday, my family was invited to attend the NYC Fandango screening for ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’. I grew up watching the cartoon on TV. So, I was just as excited to see the 3-D movie as my children! Pay attention to the first few minutes with those glasses on. WOW – those graphics sure do come alive!!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Review: Fun For The Entire Family
Onto the turtles. Talk about an upgrade! Look at the animation! Beyond amazing. A far cry from what children of the 80s/90s used to know. We’ve come a long way with movies, right? Just look at their skin ALONE. Mind-blowing.
I mean… here’s a reminder.
Anyway, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie had a great mix of the old and the new. It was fun to wait for classic sayings that true fans know and love like “Cowabunga”. But they also had new twists to help keep things fresh. For example, April’s love interest is NOT the same in this movie as it is in the cartoon. My daughter kept telling me that they made a mistake.
THE WRONG TURTLE IS IN LOVE WITH APRIL, MOM!!!!
I know, Natalie. Sometimes people like to change things up! It’s ok. Watch the movie.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gave us a great mix of fighting, fun, and comedy. Just when things got serious, they would bust out into some sort of rap or joke. It was perfect! The kids laughed. We laughed. It was a great night out.
And while we are talking about fighting – let’s talk about action. There are a few action scenes (particularly the one that involves snow) in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie that will knock your socks off. Really well done!! I’m pretty sure I found myself leaning forward a few times while sitting in my seat. As a parent, you have to appreciate getting caught up in a scene while watching a film you brought your children to see. When it’s something that everyone will enjoy — it’s a double bonus!!!!!
We snapped a family photo!! Actually, a member of the Fandango team did. Thanks Annie! We left our phones home because I was instructed to and I think I was the only person in the entire theatre to LISTEN. Hello… I’m a dork and I follow rules.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie Synopsis
Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil and her cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases this FRIDAY August 8th. It’s rated PG-13 but believe me, that rating is generous. I don’t remember any curse words! I am pretty sure it’s because of all the FIGHTING that takes place but there really isn’t anything that is graphic. My children are 7 and 9 and enjoyed the film immensely.
Oh and PS – Megan Fox is smoking hot. That is all.
