Starting the Holiday Partying at Target’s Holiday House Party #mykindofholiday

The holidays are almost here! I was so excited to attend Target’s Holiday House Party and see all their offerings for the season. The party coincided with New York’s first real winter night so it was freezing outside. I was greeted at the party with a cup of sea salt hot chocolate and they really could do little wrong after that. Let’s talk Target and how they can equip you for your house party.

The first thing I think about when planning a party is what to wear. Self-involved much? Target has some beautiful festive gems to get you in the mood. Don’t be afraid to pile on the sparkles this season. The key is to keep the rest of your outfit pretty tame.  Remember that 2013 is still the year of Emerald.

Planning outfits for you and your kids with Target is easy. Think classic colors like red, green and black. Tuxedos for women are a huge trend this season. Match your jacket and pants for a coordinated look that looks pulled together. For the kids, think cute cardigans and comfortable pieces that they can run around in.

If you’re having a party, you need 2 pairs of shoes. You need one for the first three quarters of the party. These should be fun and festive and hopefully a bit sexy. Animal skins and studs are great for Fall. Booties are also a great option. Then, for the last quarter, when guests are starting the mill out and are less likely to look at your feet, feel free to slip into something more comfortable, like these fur-lined booties. They’re sure to make clean-up a bit more tolerable.

You’re probably putting a ton of thought into your menu. Don’t forget to make sure your table looks great as well. Target has beautiful place settings that are super easy to set up. Candles are a must for a cozy glow. At the party, there were tips around the room to make entertaining easier. Archer Farms has a wide array of coffees and hot chocolates to warm guests up when they enter.

I didn’t have a sweet tooth until I saw this bar. Suddenly, I wanted everything. This is a great substitute for the traditional dessert. Guests will have fun picking their favorite candies.
