Daily Diary: Pretty Much Lost My Shirt At The Belmont Stakes

I mean… what can you do? You go to the race track to have a good time and if you happen to win then that’s a bonus, right?? Ah – who am I fooling? I was expecting to walk out of Belmont Racetrack on Saturday with the JACKPOT. LOL!!! But without fail, Bill and I didn’t bring any money. We just had what was in our wallets — never made it to the ATM. So, I think between the two of us, we had about $80 to play with and that’s including food and drinks.

Especially considering it was really hot … and Bill was really thirsty if you catch my drift. πŸ™‚

Whatever – we lost. And we lost every last dollar. Even borrowed $30 from a friend to play the final race. I kept betting 6 and 7 over and over again. I didn’t want to pretend I knew what I was talking about with the stats / odds. I just bet my kids’ birthdays. πŸ™‚Β 20130609-104150.jpg

There were a few winners in the group – won’t call them out for tax purposes. One guy actually won a few thousand. How is that possible?! DAMN!

Anyway – the Belmont Stakes is always a great day out. We buy the $10 ticket but one day I might pony up (get it) for the $120 seats. Standing for so many hours is KILLER.

After it was all over, some of us went out to dinner which I really enjoyed. I’m JUST getting back out into the world again. My mom watched Caleb – so it was possible to actually break bread with friends. I was HAPPY HAPPY. Need to schedule more of those in the near future. πŸ™‚
