Brazilian designer, Carlos Miele, is always a Fashion Week favorite of mine because his runway shows have the energy of a fantastic party where everyone is fabulously dressed, and this season’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection was no exception.
The inspiration for this season’s collection was “hallucinogenic jungle” which, as one would expect, included lots of animal print and brilliant, electric colors. However, the genius that is Carlos Miele is that he can take bright, bold colors and wild animal prints and combine them in a way that is sultry and surprisingly chic.
Carlos Miele’s collection opened with a stunning tableau; the first model, in a gown that included a chiffon cape overlay (pictured above), paused at the head of the runway and shimmed and swayed in front of a wind machine that accentuated every last rippling inch of the gorgeous chiffon gown that she modeled. The fabulousness only continued from there as model after model sashayed down the runway in a parade of chiffon gowns in flowing silhouettes.
Saturated colors, most notably yellow and blue dominated the runway in a variety of animal prints. Often the looks combined two animal prints in one garment but in true Carlos Miele fashion, the blended animal prints and brilliant colors somehow worked creating stunning looks that were sexy and sultry which still being elegant works of art.
It was a star-studded front row at Carlos Miele including Vanesse Williams (pictured above) and Paula Abdul.
