Lunch At The Capital Grille NYC: Loving That Vault

Last week, I had lunch at The Capital Grill NYC with Outhouse PR and Audrey McClelland. My husband specifically instructed me to get a steak. And the entire ride in, I was having anxiety over it because I knew there was going to be a delicious roasted chicken I wouldn’t be able to resist. When I met my friends, we all joked that we could trick Bill into thinking I had the steak if I snapped a few photos of another diner’s plate. But I just couldn’t! 🙂

What can I say… I love poultry!

And PS! I wasn’t the only one not getting a steak!! Notice that we had both salad and salmon on our table as well.

Anyway, the restaurant is a staple in the downtown area… but there is one thing I need to point out. It was 99% male. I think we were the only women eating there for lunch!! Not that I minded – just saying. Governor Pataki was also there which was a surprise.

Needless to say, the food was outstanding! They didn’t rush you at all and the waiters were pleasant and attentive. But that’s not what I’m writing about here. I want to talk about… the vault.

So, apparently the Capital Grille used to be a bank and if you go to the basement, you can actually SEE the bones of their vault. The restaurant decided to keep the vault in place and make it a dining room! HOW FUN! Next time, I’m going to request to eat down there. I’ve never seen a bank vault up close and personal. That puppy is HUGE!!
