Field Report: Nanette Lepore Spring/Summer 2012 Collection #NYFW
It was all about the neon at Nanette Lepore’s Spring/Summer Collection.
Long revered for her feminine style and flirty details, Lepore’s collection was full of electric, energizing looks that had everyone buzzing about the show long after the band stopped playing. The strong color palate was balanced by the soft, feminine silhouettes inspired by the 1950’s. Floral prints further softened the bold color palate creating breathtaking designs that were both youthful and chic.
Lepore put a new spin on the neon trend with shades of tangerine, citron, lavender and hibiscus pink that gave the whole collection an electric feel from head to toe – including neon colors peeking out from the soles of the models’ shoes. The models rocked down the runway to a live performance by Sam Bisbee’s band and the band, clad in their own neon ensembles, were no less dazzling than the runway pieces they accompanied.
In addition to her incredible design skills, Nanette Lepore is also co-founder of the Save the Garment Center Campaign which aims to preserve, promote and strengthen fashion companies, brands, factories and suppliers in New York City who design and produce quality clothing in the Garmet District and in New York City.
