Hot New DVD Release: Disney’s ‘A Christmas Carol’

I’ve shared before that I am SO ready for Christmas, so when this DVD arrived, I was psyched.  It came on the perfect day weather-wise – cold and blustery.  So, we put on our pj’s, popped some popcorn and bundled up on the couch to watch Disney’s A Christmas Carol.  I was excited because I had desperately wanted to see the movie when it was in the theater (in 3D!), but we didn’t get a chance to.

Jim Carrey stars as the voice of Scrooge, along with co-stars Gary Oldman, Robin Wright,  and Colin Firth.

I was really surprised at how true this movie stayed to the original Charles Dickens classic.  And because of that, it is rated PG for some scary sequences/images  and may not be suitable for your younger children.

Disney is offering several options for purchase starting November 16th:

  • Exclusive 4-Disc Blu-ray combo pack: Blu-Ray 3D disc, Blu-Ray Disc, DVD, and digital copy
  • 1-Disc Blu-ray
  • 1-Disc DVD

I love the four-disc option because, if you are like many households with both a DVD and Blu-ray player, you can have a copy for each room, and also  download a copy on your digital device (i.e. computer, iPod, etc), PLUS when you take the plunge and buy one of the new 3D-capable systems – you’ll be set!

There are some great bonus features on each of the discs (3D, Blu-ray, and DVD) such as a behind the scenes look at motion capture film making (Blu-ray disc), an interactive countdown to Christmas calendar (Blu-ray disc), deleted scenes (both Blu-Ray and DVD), and much, much more!

  1. I was shocked at how many other voices Jim Carrey did besides Scrooge. Check out the credits.
