Yoana Baraschi Spring 2011

Yoana Baraschi did a stationery presentation of her Spring 2011 collection at Lincoln Center over the weekend. The Romanian designer chose to keep her collection young and fresh, with guests like singer JoJo and Ms. Teen USA in attendance. The colors were easy on the eye, with pastels and printed florals making regular appearances. The silhouettes were forgiving and kind to the female form. Wide-legged pants and lose fitting jackets were done in beige and eggshell, for looks that were everything one wishes spring to be. Hemlines fell below the knee, a major trend this season, and skirts skimmed the bodies of the models. One of my favorite looks was a nautical outfit: polka-dotted jacket and striped skirt. The average woman may not be able to pull off horizontal stripes but the rest of the collection is definitely adaptable to many sizes. I loved the mix of dreamy pink florals with militant navy blue. The models rocked the platform sandals and socks look, which seems to be a staying trend. Oxfords were also featured (they’ve been rampant this season) in white.
