I had the opportunity to attend the Project Runway Finale party sponsored by Bluefly.com and hosted by past contestant, Laura Bennett and what a FABULOUS night of fashion and fun! The cupcakes were delish, the cocktails were flowing and there was no shortage of amazing fashion talent and very lucky bloggers.
The party was hosted by former contestant, Laura Bennett at her fabulous loft. Laura made a name for herself as a finalist in Season 3, with her incredible evening gowns and lightning fast sewing skills. This architect turned designer and mother of 6, just released her first novel “Didn’t I Feed You Yesterday?: A Mother’s Guide to Sanity in Stilettos” an honest and hilarious peek into her never-a-dull-moment-life with six children and fabulous shoes.
Also in attendance were past Project Runway contestants Kara Janx, Mark Ricigliano, Emmett McCarthy (Season 2), Malan Breton (Season 3), Kevin Christiana (Season 4), Joe Faris & Stella Zotis (Season 5), Althea Harper & Rodney Epperson (Season 6) and Anthony Williams, Maya Luz & Seth Aaron Henderson (Season 7).
The party erupted into deafening cheers as Seth Aaron Henderson was announced the winner of Season 7. It was wonderful to see such a genuinely nice guy take the win and Seth Aaron’s dramatic style and memorable garments made him a frontrunner from the very first episode. Plus, you just have to love a designer who is so genuinely proud of their collection that they take a proud victory lap down the runway after the final piece is shown.
It also must be said that fellow Season 7 contestant, Anthony Williams is just as hilarious and endearing in person as he was on the show. Along with Seth Aaron, he was a favorite of mine from day one.
Also featured at the party were the stunning hand beaded gowns that made Laura Bennett such a success during her tenure on Project Runway. I was a tremendous fan of her work on the show and drooled over her gowns week after week, but nothing compares to seeing the intricate work up close. The gowns are G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S!!! The incredible detail and skill that went into making such amazing gowns is astounding.
As if sipping cocktails with newly crowned champion, Seth Aaron, wasn’t exciting enough, Kelly Cutrone, founder of PR firm People’s Revolution, was also in attendance. I love watching Cutrone on the reality shows Kell on Earth, The Hills (back in the Lauren Conrad days) and The City. Cutrone also authored her recently released memoirs, “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You.” It’s a VERY entertaining read.
Congratulations again to Seth Aaron Henderson for his big win. I cannot wait to see what amazing things he has in store for his first collection.
