I’m In Parenting Magazine (Even Though They Spelt My Name Wrong)

I was so excited when Parenting Magazine asked me for advice on how to clip my kids’ nails. I play a little game with them and it usually isn’t a problem. You see, I pretend the nail clippings are hitting me and hurting me. They laugh and we zip through each finger in no time. I guess my children find it funny when their mother is in pain. Whatever works!! LOL!!

    Vera Swinney… sigh.

Thanks to Megan M for the image!!

    1. When I was younger my sister and I always filled out the football poll for the local paper (my dad had us do it even though we had no idea who we were picking to win). One of the times I won (don't know how I managed to win at all let alone multiple times) they spelled my name (Kodie) as Koolie. .

    2. Vera, that is really cute. I'm picturing you guys doing that now! When I was a babysitter, I used to have a little trick to get kids to stop crying – you know how kids fall but aren't really hurt…they just get a little embarrassed or tired and start sobbing? I would say “Ohmigosh! are you okay?!??!? I think we better go to the hospital!! Here's an ambulance! (my arms)…I'd whisk them up and make a siren noise. By this time, the crying has stopped and their siblings are really into it too (they want to be next, in fact). By the time we got to the hospital (sofa), everyone is laughing.
I also used to play Dance Fever w/the kids (this is an olllldddd show that was quite popular). Now I'm really showing my age πŸ˜‰ I think about all the kids I watched and wonder where they are now! Crazy how time flies…

    3. like that ambulance trick! my kids are big on the fake crying! Thanks πŸ˜‰

    4. Omg, my sister & I used to watch Dance Fever and Solid Gold on Saturday nights when we were little. LOL!

    5. Being in the magazine is SO incredibly awesome, Vera! (sorry about the name spelling, though)

    6. Hahaha – that is so funny! Remember the host, Denny Terio? (sp?) The kids loved to imitate the dances after we watched them. They especially loved it when I would lift them up and spin them. Good times!

Vera, let me know if the ambulance thing works! Your kids love to laugh. I bet it will be a success.
