Cecelia Mecca Interview And The Vampire’s Temptation (Bloodwite Book 1)

Cecelia Mecca is an author well known for her steamy historical romances and I am lucky enough to call her friend. Today, she gets to add paranormal romance author to the list of her accomplishments and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Cecelia Mecca And The Vampire's Temptation (Bloodwite Book 1)

Her newest title – The Vampire’s Temptation (Bloodwite Book 1) – focuses on a time when blood-cursed vampire lines were first created. I am all IN, party people. The storyline is hot and steamy, undead and dreamy… and it has my name written all over it.

Cecelia Mecca Interview And The Vampire’s Temptation (Bloodwite Book 1)

Naturally, I had to write up a Cecelia Mecca interview to celebrate today’s release. How could I resist? The Vampire’s Temptation is already getting a ton of buzz online and I feel like I have to do my part to spread the word about these sensual creatures.  Have you heard about this novel yet? Here’s a quick summary to get you started.

The Vampire’s Temptation Synopsis

Kenton Morley and Lawrence Derrickson have hated each other ever since they were feuding border lords in medieval England and Scotland…seven hundred years ago.

When their bloodlines were cursed, birthing the world’s first vampires.

Their feud has since carried through the centuries based on a new argument: Kenton seeks to destroy the Cheld—the only line of humans capable of killing their kind—while Lawrence seeks to save them.

It’s said that men can forget, but never forgive. It’s also said that true love knows no bounds. When the vampires move to Stone Haven, Pennsylvania, Alessandra Fiore will find out firsthand which of those old adages is true.

It doesn’t matter whether she believes in vampires or not…

Because they believe in her. And she’s on the very cusp of discovering her dormant powers as a Cheld—a potential vampire hunter.

Did you know that paranormal romances were my slow jam? Actually, I listen to two different kinds of songs. I listen to historial romances and paranormal romances and now Cecelia writes both of them… so HELLO!!!!! She is officially the bee’s knees.

Onto the interview! I always like to know the story behind the story and this Cecelia Mecca interview will give us a quick peek behind the blood-stained curtain.

What Inspired You To Create Kenton Morley?

Kenton Morley was once an English earl back in the 13th century before becoming a vampire, I actually drew inspiration partly from Garrick, the Earl of Clave in one of my own historical romances, and partly from our modern idea of the quintessential sexy vampire.

He has it all– good looks, loads of money and lifetimes of experience. And since he was once the leader of men, he also has his fair share of confidence. But he knows it and needs to be knocked down a peg.

From Highlanders To Vampires – Why The jump And Was It Hard To Make The Transition?

Highlanders are hot. They’ve got the kilts and accents going for them, and writing medieval romance is as much fun as you would think it might be. But vampires. Sigh With a tinge of danger and centuries of experience, they rival our Highland heroes in more ways than one.

And after an epic binge of True Blood and then The Vampire Diaries, with vampires on the brain, I thought, “What if I combined them? What would an English earl and a Highland chief who become vampires be like 700 years later? The transition was actually easier than I expected!

Would You Want To Live Forever If Given The Chance?

That’s a great question. The whole Bloodwite series actually begins with The Healer’s Curse, a story origin story which tells the tale of how Kenton and Lawrence become vampires. For causing her husband’s death with their feud, Lady Isobel condemns both families to experience “the same pain as I’ve been forced to endure.”

So it is meant to be a curse, seeing their loved-ones die throughout the ages. BUT if I could bring my family and friends with me? Bring on immortality!

(I have to chime in here. I always talk about this with my kids. I tell them that if I ever became a vampire, I would wait until they each turned around 30 and then I would turn them too. LOL)

Did You Have Fun Researching The Vampire World?

Yes! Since their origin story began in the 13th century along the Anglo-Scottish border, I began with medieval beliefs about vampires in both countries. I learned many of our currents ideas on vampires actually stems from 19th-century literature, and while each culture has their own vampire or immortal mythology, most are vastly different than what is portrayed in popular culture today. Weaving those 13th-century beliefs with a few of my own ideas and creating an entirely new vampire mythology was incredibly exciting.

Loved this review so much! I was a fan of the vampire genre LONG before it became popular, endured through the years when the market was oversaturated thanks to Twilight, True Blood, etc., and I still love it to this day. I've come across a few authors who have written some pretty fantastic vampire novels in the Twilight aftermath, and with your recommendation, I'll have to add The Vampire's Temptation to my reading list!
